Polish Army vs Shaka

Recap

So we’re finally off and running with the first night of the Wednesday evening 6-a-side league, and on  week one it was one of the teams who’ve been around playing friendlies since day one of ‘pre-season’ in Polish Army, against a team who found their way to us just a couple of weeks ago in Shaka.

Shaka had the better of the chances in the first period, and will feel that they should have gone into the break a goal or two up, but we had the rarest of things, a goal-less first half!

Having filmed the goal-less first half, then nipped to fetch some footballs at half time, we of course missed the deadlock being broken in the opening minute of the second half as Mark Brookes opened the scoring for Shaka. Having waited all this time for a goal, we didn’t have to wait long for the second as Dawid drew the Polish Army level two minutes later. Having got themselves level, the Army then hit a hot spell and took control of the game with three goals in 4 minutes to go 4-1 up with 16 minutes still to play, two goals from Kamil and another from Dawid. Shaka weren’t for letting this one go easily though, and James Holden pulled one back 8 minutes from time, before Brookes’ second 4 minutes later meant we were in for a grandstand finish. A goal two minutes from time from Mateusz finished the game off in Polish Army’s favour as they get their season off to a winning start. It looks like being a good season!
