Recap
Wellspring have found the last few weeks a struggle as they’ve been left with the bare bones of a squad following the departure to university of a few of their lads, so with a couple of filler players it was going to be a tough ask against the leaders Under Rated this week.
They did ok in the opening exchanges, but fell behind to Steven Batho’s 8th minute goal, and were two behind when Colin Stelfox added Under Rated’s second three minutes later. While Wellspring were generally doing ok, they were conceding on a fairly regular basis, and they were three down on 16 minutes when Batho got his second, and it was 4 by the break as Jimmy Nation got himself on the score sheet.
Batho and Stelfox added further goals in the first 7 minutes of the second period to kill off any hopes of an unlikely Wellspring comeback, but they did pull a couple of goals back in quick succession as Nathan Wilkinson and Lewis Arden scored half way through the period. Under Rated grabbed a couple more before the end though as Batho got his 4th and Nation his second to complete another comfortable win for the leaders who remain 8 points clear at the top at the half way point of the season.
