With the game reviews now appearing on the results page of each individual game, we figured it would be handy to round things up in one weekly review where we give you some other info about what’s happening across the leagues in general. Enjoy!
LEAGUE NEWS
We don’t have too many spaces to offer out across the night’s at the minute, we just need to try and make sure the teams we’ve got are getting a side out each week!
But we do have the BRAND NEW MONDAY 6-A-SIDE LEAGUE kicking off a week on Monday, 16th October, and with a question mark over the continuation of one team, we may have a space for a new team to come in and get involved. Get in touch for details.
As we look to try and improve and look towards the next thing we can add to what we already offer, we want to ensure that we are putting all of the correct information on the website as we go. So from now on we will be wanting each team to let us know on the day of the game who is going to be in their squad that night so we can ensure the right names are on the referees score sheets. This will help us when we are looking to add in extra stats, the next one probably being assists.
SUNDAY LEAGUE
In the Premiership it’s another season where the title will be between Insole and Kinky Slipper. Both teams picked up comfortable wins this week, Insole hammering Step Brothers 13-0 while Kinky saw off El Caliente 7-1. Those two play each other this weekend in what could effectively win the title for one of them with a win, even with several weeks still to go.
Kipsta Cobras looked set to cruise back into the top flight having rebuilt their squad after dropping out of the top flight last season, but they surprisingly lost their first game of the season this week in a 7-5 reverse to El Caliente B. Dench FC were looking to get their promotion push back on track after two straight defeats, but they were surprisingly held to a 6-6 draw by struggling Team Tom, while The Veterans surprise promotion push stumbled as they were beaten 9-7 by Exeter Gently. Just three points separate first and 5th in this division.
Under Rated made it 5 wins from 5 as they opened up an 8 point lead at the top of League One with an 8-2 win over a Wellspring team who are adjusting to life without a few players who’ve left for uni. Duno will fancy themselves for a strong end to the season, and beat likely fellow promotion contenders FC AOTS 9-6 in a good game. Inter Your Sister and Deportivo Lack Of Talent are probably both looking at survival this season, and it was Deportivo who picked up their first points in a 3-2 win to drag themselves out of the bottom two.
The McMuffin Men look likely to be the League Two title favourites, and did their goal difference a world of good with an 18-3 win over Expected Toulose in a game that was 6-3 at half time. Pathetico Madrid held a 100% record including a win over the now leaders, but their colours were lowered for the first time this week as they lost 7-4 to a Stockport Eagles team who made it two wins in a row.
MONDAY LEAGUE
We aren’t going to lie, the Premiership season hasn’t really taken off this time around as a couple of early drop outs, plus holidays, injuries etc to other teams has meant games regularly going down. It’s October now though, and new season is on the way! Before that, there is still a title to be decided, and Old Reddish ensured it went to the final night as they came from behind to scrape an 8-5 win against Strikeforce. In good news leaders AC Milmanchester played out an 8-8 draw with new boys Duno in a friendly, indicating the new team will be happy enough taking their place in the top flight next season.
The Championship has been a better season, and this week Jeremy Cheadle ensured themselves of the title with a 6-3 win over Phantom Brazilians. Not A Chance look favourites to finish second, but we’ll have to consider Petr Cech Yourself for top flight status after they picked up another impressive win since their squad overhaul, beating a Let’s Try Again team who’ve been unbeaten in their last 4 11-3.
TUESDAY LEAGUE
The Tuesday league was back to something like full strength this week after the effects of summer, holidays etc had meant less games being played than normal recently. In the big game in the top flight Mirror Signal Malouda pulled off a 5-4 win over J Stands Barmy Army that throws the title race wide open. Cheadle FC were one of the teams that have struggled to field a side of late, but they were back this week with a narrow 8-7 win over El Caliente that sees them keep pace with the leading pack. Insole are giving Tuesday a go for now, and started their Tuesday Baller life with a harder fought 9-4 victory over Oooze than the scoreline suggests.
Only Kruls & Horses have only been in the league three weeks, but they went top after beating a recently resurgent LQ FC 8-4. Another new team, Inter Row Z, are into second spot after they inflicted a second straight defeat on former leaders 2 Goals 1 Schlupp, the game finishing 9-6, though the top 5 in this division have only three points separating them.
WEDNESDAY LEAGUE
Week three of the Wednesday league brought about the first full night of games as Ruud van Ni-Ste-Lloyd took the final space. They debuted with a narrow 5-4 win over previously unbeaten Magpie FC. The new leaders are Polish Army, who had a narrow 4-3 win over Stockport Eagles to maintain their 100% record, and the third game was also a close one as Shaka picked up a first win with an 8-7 victory over Exeter Gently. We’ve dropped on our feet with this league, as all 6 teams look to be of fairly similar standard, so it’s all to play for!
