Recap
Two teams who’ve struggled to get going this season faced off in an attempt to kick start their campaign. Both teams started the night without a win and in Deportivo’s case without a point, and the first half was lacking a cutting edge from either team in the most part.
For a while Gaz Sumner’s 9th minute goal for Inter looked like it might be the only one of the half, but two goals in the final minute of the period saw Deportivo into the break with an unlikely lead, Brad Peet and an own goal sending Deportivo in 2-1 up.
Peet’s second of the game two minutes after the break gave Deportivo a bit of breathing space, and the possibility of a first league win of the season was looking more likely. The rest of the second half settled into how most of the first half had been, with no further goals being added until Craig Johnson scored for Inter with two minutes remaining. There was no grand finish though, and Deportivo held on for their first win of the season, a win which sees them leapfrog Inter and leave them bottom of the table at the half way point of the season.
