Recap
Having thrown away a three goal lead against Milmanchester last week, Expected Toulouse were looking to bounce back with a first Premiership win at the second attempt. Strikeforce were also beaten in slightly more straightforward fashion last week, so someone’s ‘0’ had to go in week two.
For much of the first half it looked like being the Toulouse duck was going to be broken, as in similar fashion to last week’s game they raced out in front. Jack Grundy and Jordan Milne struck in the first 10 minutes, before a double from Liam Mottram either side of Milne’s second of the half gave Toulouse a 5-0 lead approaching the break. Mike Garratt got Strikeforce on the board a minute before the break, but it was still a long way back for them in the second period.
An own goal three minutes after the restart eased Strikeforce closer, and when Matty Aked and Mike Pinder both struck within a couple of minutes of each other it was back to 5-4 with 14 minutes remaining. With memories of last week still fresh in the their minds, Toulouse were able to regroup, and the sealed the win with three in as many minutes from Liam Smith, Mottram and Milne, meaning Matthew Ricketts goal three minutes from time wasn’t enough to help Strikeforce back into it.
