League: Tuesday Championship RNE
LQ FC vs FC Poor Toe
Two teams with very different amounts of Ballers experience went up against each other this week, with both teams having one thing in common. That thing was no points so far this season.
Compared to Poor Toe who’ve been here since way back when we had the 5-a-side league going earlier in the year, this was just LQ’s third game with us, but they held a level of control over the opening period as two goals from Matthew Brierley and one from Khaled Ukash saw them into the half time break with a three goal lead
When Matty Adams made that 4 in the first minute of the second half it looked like the points were in the bag for LQ, but Poor Toe hit back with two goals in as many minutes from Ian Heyl and James Verrall to give them some hope of getting something from the game. Those hopes lasted approximately 4 minutes as Alex Brash scored his first Ballers goal to give LQ a cushion again. It was a cushion they didn’t let go of as Jacob Murphy and Brierley added two more to give make the final scoreline seem quite a comfortable one. LQ are off the mark at the third time of asking.

Only Kruls & Horses vs 2 Goals 1 Schlupp
We welcomed Only Kruls & Horses to the Ballers Tuesday league this week with a suspicion that the Championship might not be the ideal starting point for them, but as they were taking on Championship leaders 2 Goals 1 Schlupp we would soon find out.
It was the leaders that took the lead in this one as Dom Heaford grabbed the first goal of what was to become a tight, tense affair in the 9th minute, but two goals in the final 5 minutes of the half from Nat Banford meant that it was the new boys who went into the break with a 2-1 lead.
That lead doubled when Seb Etchells made it 3-1 three minutes into the second period, and there was an assumption that the new team may run away with it at this point. 2 Goals kept going though, and Lewis Bush reduced the deficit to one goal with 10 minutes remaining. Despite their best efforts they couldn’t find a leveller though, so they fall to their first defeat of the season as Only Kruls announce themselves to the Ballers Tuesday league by picking up a win over the Championship leaders on their first night.
