Kinky Slipper vs Insole
For the third time, Insole went into the final night of the Sunday Premiership season with the title still on the line and goal difference potentially being a decisive factor. Their previous record was won one, lost one, with that loss having come a couple of seasons ago against this week’s opposition in Kinky Slipper. A two goal Insole win this week would leave us deciding the league on goals scored, which is something no one thought to look into before the game started……
Kinky were looking to make sure that the mathematical factors didn’t need to be taken into account, and Rob Cresswell gave them the lead in the second minute. Insole got themselves into the game after that slow start, and Jack Atkinson drew them level on 11 minutes, but Luke Braden exchanged being the regular Kinky ‘keeper for goalscorer as he restored their lead on 17 minutes. Again, Insole hit back as Jordan Cunningham made it Desmond two minutes from half time, but we weren’t level for long as Cresswell’s second a minute later meant Kinky went in 3-2 up at the break.
Atkinson quickly drew Insole level again after the restart, and they hit the front for the first time when Aaron Campbell fired home with 19 minutes of the season left. A minute later it was level yet again as Wes Harney got himself on the score sheet, but Atkinson’s third of the game 13 minutes from time set us up for a grandstand finish. Both teams went for it in the last 10 minutes, but when Kyle Clarke scored two minutes from time for Insole there were limited celebrations as no one really knew what that meant for the title! Confusion reigned as the full time whistle went, and it was only when the score was entered into the website that we realised that Insole had taken the title on goals scored!
What an end to the season, again!

Dench FC vs Exeter Gently
Funny season for Dench, after getting off to a flyer with two wins, they then had to wait until the 9th game of the season for their third win. Exeter have generally struggled throughout, and will be playing their football in the third tier next season.
It couldn’t come soon enough for them, judging by the opening half, as three George Eaton goals, two from James Newton and Phil Carroll, and one each from Harvey Ashton and Dan Jones, against just the one for James Magnani for Exeter gave Dench a 9-1 half time lead.
That became 11-1 in the opening 10 minutes of the second half as Eaton grabbed another couple, before Magnani with two and Sam Wharton pulled it back to 11-4. Shockingly there was no miraculous comeback, so despite Wharton, Magnani and Tom Berry scoring for Exeter in the last 5 minutes, Jones and Carroll also scored for Dench in that time to seal a comfortable last day victory.

The Veterans vs El Caliente B

Kipsta Cobras vs El Caliente B
Despite being a Championship title decider, only one of these teams are likely to be taking their place in the Premiership next season as Caliente will be dropping the B and going with just the one team. With the first team not playing this week, this was effectively a Premiership team that Kipsta were playing as the prepare for life back in the top flight.
The team that will be sticking around (hopefully!) struck first as Warren Yeo opened the scoring for Kipsta in the first minute, but by the time we’d reached the 4 minute mark goals from Jamie Berrisford and Danny Garvey had put Caliente in front. Berrisford scored again and Matty Aked added a couple more by the half way point of the half to put Caliente in control, but James Birchall pulled one back for Kipsta seconds later. Berrisford completed a first half hat trick to make it 6-2, but Kipsta finished the half strongly and Matt Sheehan and Yeo pulled a couple back to make it 6-4 at the break.
Caliente regathered at the start of the second period, and killed the game off with three goals in the first 11 minutes of the period, all from Berrisford. Jack Birchall pulled one back for Kipsta, but another for Berrisford and three more for Garvey eased Caliente clear. James Birchall scored the last goal of the game in the last couple of minutes to mean that Kipsta finish second, while the Caliente B team end their Ballers run with the Championship title.
