Insole vs Kinky Slipper

So, as with most Sunday Premiership season’s so far, the title pretty much comes down to a game between Kinky Slipper and Insole. Insole have won the league twice in the last three seasons, with Kinky taking the title in the season inbetween, and it was Kinky who picked up the win in the game between these two sides earlier in the season.

This was a proper game, between two teams who knew they couldn’t afford to give away easy goals as any goal could prove vital, and that explains why we went in at the break with the scoreline still 0-0.

As you’d expect, the second half was more of the same, as things got more and more tense as time went on, both teams knowing that any goal might well be the winner, and we went into the final 10 minutes with the scoreline still 0-0. Finally, 7 minutes from time, James Radcliffe broke the deadlock for Kinky, and now that they had something to hold on they did their level best to kill the game off. There was no way back for Insole, and Kinky held on for the narrowest of wins, a win that puts them in the driving seat to reclaim the Sunday Premiership crown.

Duno FC vs Wellspring FC

Duno look to have stumbled onto a winning formula in recent weeks, and now look good for promotion not only out of this division, but maybe straight into the top flight if they keep this up. This week they faced a Wellspring side who are still settling down to life without a few regulars who transferred to university.

From the very early stages it was pretty obvious this was going to be a one sided affair as a goal from Liam Stephenson, three from Calvin Alexander and another from Levi Hamilton made it 5-0 after just 7 minutes. Luke Cope made it 6 on 13 minutes, Hamilton added two more in the following two minutes, before Lewis Arden got Wellspring on the score sheet 9 minutes before half time. Stephenson and Cope were able to add two more goals to the Duno tally before the break, and they lead 10-1 when the half time whistle went.

They eased off a little in the second period, and it was 7 minutes in before Liam Stephenson got their next goal. Nathan Wilkinson got Wellspring’s second with 16 minutes remaining, but in those 16 minutes Duno scored another 4 as Alexander and Hamilton got their 4th goals of the game, and Stephenson his 4th and 5th to complete a comfortable win for Duno on a miserable night for Wellspring. There’s always next week……

Pathetico Madrid vs SK Dons

Both of these teams were playing their second game of the night as Pathetico tried to get ahead with some lads being away for the next couple of weeks. With the Sunday League Two promotion race really wide open, a win for either of these teams would see them weel placed to be the favourite to take the second promotion slot as McMuffin Men look likely to take the title.

After a quiet opening 10 minutes, Sam Henderson gave Pathetico a lead that lasted about 60 seconds before Kyle Norris drew the Dons level. Another Norris goal and Jack Shariff’s third of the night (one in each net in his previous game) gave SK a 3-1 lead by the 15 minute mark, but an own goal, and goals from John Brookes and James Norton turned it around in Pathetico’s favour approaching the break. Norris completed a first half hat trick on the stroke of half time to end an entertaining half with both teams going in level at 4-4 at half time.

Matthew Richardson put the Dons back in front in the opening minute of the second half, but Pathetico ‘keeper Danny Norton made it 5-5 with a penalty with 20 minutes to go. Michael Davenport and Shariff scored to give the Dons a two goal lead, and it was just about game over when Richardson and Norris added two in a minute half way through the period. Adam Norton pulled one back for Pathetico three minutes from time, but SK killed the game off when Richardson grabbed his third a minute later.

El Caliente B vs Dench FC

Dench FC really need to get back to winning ways and quickly if they are to maintain a promotion push, but also to avoid being sucked into a relegation battle as the Championship tightens up. We may face a dilemma if Caliente B keep winning, as we can’t have both teams in the same division…..

Having become the first team to take points off Kipsta Cobras last week, Caliente looked to be on the way to making it two in a row as Kyle Sparkes scored twice in the first 10 minutes to give them an early two goal lead. Nathaniel Odysseus-Kinglsey made it three 5 minutes before half time, and Caliente looked well on their way to avenging their opening day defeat to the same opposition.

Debutant Harvey Ashton, who surprisingly isn’t the star of a 50’s detective series, pulled one back for Dench in the first minute of the second half, but controversial new signing Matty Aked, who left Dench last week to join Caliente, scored 3 minutes later to restore the Caliente three goal lead. Fidelis Eberegbe and Aked added further goals to take the game away from Dench, though Phil Carroll did pull another back for them before Eberegbe immediately scored again at the other end. There was a late burst of 5 goals in the final 6 minutes, and if all 5 of them went to Dench they would have nicked an unlikely draw. George Eaton scored for them 6 minutes from time, but Michael Jennison scored for Caliente a minute later, and then the same two players did the same again before Ashton got his second in the final minute as a late consolation for Dench, who are now without a win in 4.

As a side note, Caliente could have had another goal, but in Neymar/Cavani stylee, Eberegbe insisted on taking a penalty off Sparkes, only to miss the spot kick……

Pathetico Madrid vs The McMuffin Men

While The McMuffin Men look destined for promotion this season, their one defeat of the season came in the reverse fixtures with this week’s opposition. Following that massive win, Pathetico slipped up last week in defeat to Stockport Eagles, so they needed to pick up something from one of their two games this week to stay in contention for promotion.

They got off to a good start as Adam Norton put them in front after two minutes, but McMuffin turned it around before there was 10 minutes on the clock as Juwon Hamzat and Mac Eyre put them 2-1 in front. Pathetico hit back again and two John Brookes goals turned things back around in their favour byt the time we reached the 20 minute mark, but two late goals from Charley Eyre meant that a topsy turvy first half ended with McMuffin Men leading by 4 goals to 3.

The second half was a little more one sided, and McMuffin added a steady stream of goals throughout. Mac Eyre and Jack Derbyshire added further goals in the opening 10 minutes of the half to open up a three goal lead. Charley Eyre added two more, Derbyshire two more and Mac Eyre another, before Brookes scored the final goal of the game as a late consolation. The McMuffin Men are now 5 points clear, and look very much set for the League Two title come the end of the season.
