Mirror Signol Malouda vs El Caliente

It seems to be a thing at the minute that a lot of teams are stalling on 5 players as they attempt to field a side, and with what already looked like a tough game on the horizon for El Caliente, they really could have done with being able to field that 6th player.

As you’d expect it didn’t take long for Malouda to take control of this one, and Daniel Barrett and Aiden Jones gave them a two goal lead in the opening 10 minutes, before two more from Wez Barker, one from Paul Lockett and another from Jones saw title hopefuls Malouda into the break with a 5 goal lead.

Having found a body to jump in and get them back to 6 for the second period, El Caliente got on the score sheet when ‘guest’ player Nicky Edwards scored 6 minutes after the restart. Any thoughts of a shock comeback lasted about three minutes though as Barrett, Jones and Barker added to the Malouda total. Jones grabbed his 4th before Edwards got Caliente’s second, and he grabbed his third just after Barker had also grabbed his 4th. Malouda finished with a flourish as Barker grabbed two more before Jones completed the scoring to give Malouda a comfortable win to keep the pressure on the leaders.

Oooze FC vs J Stands Barmy Army

The ‘title favourites’ J Stands Barmy Army looked to take another step towards their ultimate goal against the always competitive, usually unpredictable Oooze FC.

They got off to the best possible start as Nicky Edwards and Jay Willingham put them two up inside the opening 5 minutes, and despite Kieran Meehan pulling one back for Oooze on 10 minutes, the league leaders quickly regained control as Willingham scored three more in a 6 minute spell soon after. Phil Parker pulled one back for Oooze and the stroke of half time to keep J Stands honest going into the second period.

It was Parker again who narrowed the gap back down to two goals two minutes after the restart, but this was the start of a glut of goals in the next 10 minutes as Reece Nuttall quickly grabbed another for the Barmy Army. Adam Corr made it 6-4 with 20 minutes remaining, but again J Stands hit back within a minute as Willingham grabbed his 5th of the evening. Parker completed his hat trick to make it 7-5, but three goals in the next three minutes from Willingham, Nuttall and Edwards eased the Army into a 5 goal lead heading into the final quarter of an hour. Nuttall and Liam Ellis added to the J Stands total before Tom Galbraith completed the scoring by grabbing Oooze’s 6th of the game, but it doesn’t stop J Stands from keeping a firm hold of their 100% record for the season.

Only Kruls & Horses vs 2 Goals 1 Schlupp

We welcomed Only Kruls & Horses to the Ballers Tuesday league this week with a suspicion that the Championship might not be the ideal starting point for them, but as they were taking on Championship leaders 2 Goals 1 Schlupp we would soon find out.

It was the leaders that took the lead in this one as Dom Heaford grabbed the first goal of what was to become a tight, tense affair in the 9th minute, but two goals in the final 5 minutes of the half from Nat Banford meant that it was the new boys who went into the break with a 2-1 lead.

That lead doubled when Seb Etchells made it 3-1 three minutes into the second period, and there was an assumption that the new team may run away with it at this point. 2 Goals kept going though, and Lewis Bush reduced the deficit to one goal with 10 minutes remaining. Despite their best efforts they couldn’t find a leveller though, so they fall to their first defeat of the season as Only Kruls announce themselves to the Ballers Tuesday league by picking up a win over the Championship leaders on their first night.
