Recap
A couple of cancellations in Championship this week lead Team Tom and El Caliente B to face each other for the second week in a row as we juggled things around, and if there was to be any repeat of last week’s 8-8 draw we’d be in for a minor classic.
The Bee’s flew out of the traps and lead 5-0 after just 11 minutes as Matt Kealy and Kyle Sparkes, alongside goals from two nameless scorers saw them take early control. Ashley Ellis-Quirke pulled one back for Team Tom, but Sparkes second 5 minutes from half time seemed to be sending Caliente into a comfortable half time lead. Team Tom didn’t see things that way, and two more from Ellis-Quirke and another from Aaron Crook meant there were just two goals in it at the break.
That became one when James MacDonald scored three minutes into the second period, but Kealy grabbed his second 12 minutes from time to ease Caliente a couple of goals clear again. Kealy and Ellis-Quirke exchanged goals within 60 seconds to keep things tight, but ‘un-named scorer’ struck twice in the final 5 minutes to confirm a Caliente win that looked likely to have been a lot more comfortable in the early stages.
