Recap
Two teams who were showing signs of improvement going into this week’s games faced off with both teams still involved in what’s looking like being a close promotion battle.
Ciaran McGrath got the scoring underway after 6 minutes to give Inter the lead, and on 9 minutes their lead was doubled through Joe Fletcher’s finish. LQ got themselves back into it on 12 minutes when Matthew Brierley took advantage of some hesitant defending to halve the deficit, but Calvin Alexander restored the Inter two goal lead with their third 7 minutes from the break. Alex Brash pulled a second back for LQ three minutes from half time and left us with everything to play for in a game that was turning out to be as tight as we were expecting.
LQ stepped up the pressure at the start of the second period, but that equiliser wouldn’t come for them and they were punished when Ray Donnelly smashed in Inter’s 4th off the crossbar with 16 minutes left. Any glimmer of hope LQ had of taking anything from this game ended when Liam Watson scored the 5th for Inter 9 minutes from time, and they make it three straight wins to climb into the promotion places.
