The McMuffin Men vs Pathetico Madrid

Recap

The McMuffin Men have looked like they may have been mis-placed in League Two after a comfortable couple of wins in the first two weeks of the season. This week they played the only other team with a 100% record in the division as Pathetico Madrid do what they always seem to do and start a season strongly, can they keep it up and have a proper promotion push this time around?

McMuffin Men started this one much the stronger, and created and wasted a host of chances as Pathetico ‘keeper John Lodge kept them at bay with a number of decent saves. They finally taking the lead on 11 minutes through Mac Eyre’s finish, but after doing the hard work that lead lasted just a minute as James Norton smashed home the equiliser within 60 seconds. Pathetico then took the lead through a Danny Norton penalty 4 minutes before the break, but they were also unable to hold on for long as Abz Ahmed made it Desmond a minute later. Pathetico regained the lead a minute before half time as Jack Henderson grabbed his first of the season, but they couldn’t see it through to the break as Charley Eyre made it 3-3 in the final knockings of the half.

The first goal of the second half went Pathetico’s way again as Carl Reynolds put them back in front 7 minutes in, and when Adam Norton finished off a good team move 4 minutes later they had a two goal lead for the first time. McMuffin Men threw everything at Pathetico in an attempt to get back into this one, and Jack Derbyshire pulled one back three minutes from time. Any thoughts they had about nicking something were ended a minute later as Reynolds nicked the ball and ran the length of the pitch to finish this one off and send Pathetico top of the table.
