Recap
For the third week in a row the highly anticipated second clash of the season between Old Reddish and Milmanchester didn’t happen, but Reddish did have a game as they took on Strikeforce who were up against the league vacancy this week (a space we think we’ve managed to fill!).
Strikeforce, to their credit, put a team out this week despite missing a number of lads, and one of their replacements in Jay Berrisford gave them the lead in the 4th minute. This lead didn’t last long and Reddish soon turned things in their favour as Joe McDonald levelled things up before Anthony Pugh scored two to ease Reddish in front. Kyle Mulliner added a 4th before Berrisford pulled a goal back for Strikeforce. Ray Warburton made it 5-2 to Reddish at the break, and in the second period Old Reddish pulled away.
Dan Wild and Pugh got two more in the first three minutes of the half, and though Berrisford got his third and 4th to keep Strikeforce within three, that was as close as they got. Further goals from Warburton, three more for Mulliner and three more for McDonald, plus a bonus goal for ‘keeper Paul Stewart in his wedding week eased Reddish to a comfortable win, and helped their goal difference as they try and chase down Milmanchester for the title.
