Recap
The champs will already know that at this early stage of the season they can’t afford any slip ups if they want to keep hold of their title, but there’s always the chance of El Caliente pulling a result out of the bag.
That didn’t look at all likely in the first 7 minutes as Insole raced into a 4-0 lead as Kyle Clarke and Liam Atkinson scored two apiece, but Caliente rallied in the mid part of the half, and two own goals pulled them back into it. Insole quickly regained control, and Brad Street and Atkinson added to the Insole tally and restored their 4 goal lead. Matty Aked became Caliente’s first actual goalscorer of the evening, as he struck two minutes from the break to leave us at 6-3 at half time.
There was a lot less goal mouth action in the second period, but when Clarke completed his hat trick 9 minutes in the result of the game was beyond doubt. Atkinson and Aaron Campbell added a couple more late goals to complete a 9-3 win for Insole that keeps them ahead of Kinky Slipper on goal difference.
