Recap
Interesting looking one this, as The Barmy Army have stumbled of late after looking like they were going to walk away with the Tuesday Premiership title. Cheadle retained a hope of claiming the crown after winning their last two having pieced a squad back together following the departure of some lads to uni.
In a frantic opening 10 minutes, it was Cheadle who hit the front thanks to goals from Matt Taylor and Bobby Hirst in the opening 6. J Stands hit back immediately through a quick fire hat trick from Jay Willingham to turn the game in their favour, and the rest of the first half was played out with no further goals scored.
Willingham and Scott Stokes added to the J Stands total within the first three minutes of the second period, and it looked like they might run away with this one, especially when Stokes added his second with 17 minutes left to make it 6-2. Hirst got his second to pull Cheadle back into it, but Nicky Stokes got himself on the score sheet, quickly followed by Scott’s third to ease the Barmy Army into an 8-3 lead. Hirst grabbed his third a minute later, and Adam Taylor scored with 11 to go to reduce the deficit to three. It looked like getting interesting for the final few minutes when Matt Taylor scored again for Cheadle, but that was as close as they got as J Stands picked up the win to close the gap on leaders Mirror Signal Malouda, who didn’t play this week.
