Recap
The ‘Monday Classico’ took place early on this season as title holders AC Milmanchester took on an Old Reddish team that ran them close last time around.
Having beaten Milmanchester on the final day of last season, Reddish looked to get on top early in this one, and Ben Wild gave them the lead in the first minute before Ray Warburton doubled the lead with 9 minutes on the clock. After a sluggish start Milmanchester oused themselves and debutant Connor Fannon pulled one back for them within a minute before Simon Hackney produced a couple of decent finishes to turn this one around and see ACM into the break with a half time lead.
Milmanchester seemed to take complete control at the start of the second period, and another first timer, Gary Gittings, gave ACM a two goal lead three minutes after the break. Fannon’s second of the game with 16 minutes remaining seemed to have sealed the result for the Champions, but a couple of rapid replies from Warburton and Wild made it a one goal game again. It still looked like Milmanchester might hold on, but Warburton’s third 5 minutes from time was the start of a strong finish from Reddish as Anthony Pugh, Wild and Lee Morgan scored to give them a hard fought victory.
