Recap
We welcome Duno into the top flight this season after they tore things up in league one for most of the second half of the last campaign, and they started their top flight life against an El Caliente team who had struggled for numbers going into this opening game.
When Calvin Alexander gave the top flight new boys the lead in the first minute it looked like they could be on for a comfortable night, and Liam Watson doubled their lead 10 minutes later. Caliente hit back and two goals in 4 minutes from Fidelis Eberebge had us level at Desmond 4 minutes before the break. Watson got his second on the stroke of half time to restore Duno’s lead, and they went into the interval 3-2 in front.
Alexander got the first goal of the second half to give Duno a two goal lead again, but Ryan McAndrew ensured they didn’t run away with it at that point as he grabbed two goals to make it 4-4 with 9 minutes to play. Duno quickly went back in front as Watson got his third, and as Caliente began to run out of legs, further goals from Luke Newsham and Watson finished things off to give Duno a winning start in a tough opening game.
