Recap
It’s been proving an ever more difficult task for Exeter Gently to field a side this season, and we’ll be hoping that the prospect of some more positive results in a lower division might bring some of their old players back into the fold. That being said, this wasn’t going to be an easy start against an AOTS team who only finished third behind two very good teams in this division last season.
As possibly expected, it was AOTS who got off to the better start, Adam Duty scoring two and Eoghan Scott a third in the opening 10 minutes. Chris Igo did pull one back for Exeter half way through the period, but an own goal (hi Phil) and Scott’s second made it 5-1 at the break.
Things didn’t get much better for Exeter after the break, as two early goals from Adam Atherton killed off any hopes of a second half revival. Duty added two more, Tom Dennerly and Ben Jamieson one apiece, to see AOTS get off to a comfortable start to what they hope will be a season of promotion.
