A last minute juggle around ended up seeing the top two from last season going at it on the opening night with Kinky Slipper keen to avenge their loss to Insole on the final night last season last week in a game that wrapped up Insole’s second straight title win (happy now?).

While last week’s game saw quite an open first half with plenty of goals at either end, this week’s was a far more cautious affair, with just a solitary Wes Harney goal the difference between the sides as Kinky went into the break 1-0 up.

When Joe Lailey doubled that lead 7 minutes into the second half, Kinky looked good for getting their season off to a winning start, but Jack Atkinson pulled one back for Insole a minute later. Kinky looked to have regained control when Jordan Hutchinson made it 3-1 with 15 minutes to go, but Atkinson’s second 6 minutes from time set us up for a big finish. Jordan Cunningham grabbed the final goal of the game three minutes from the end to give Insole a share of the spoils as this ongoing rivalry looks set to continue for another season.
