Recap
It’s a good sign for the Wednesday league that despite both of these teams going into this week’s game both looking for their first point, neither team had suffered a heavy defeat in the opening couple of weeks. The heaviest defeat was Shaka’s 5-3 defeat to Polish Army on the opening night, so both of these teams would have had hopes of getting off the mark this time.
We can’t provide an overly detailed review of this one as the score card was missing some of the information we needed, but it was a cracking game with the bulk of the goals finding the net in the opening period before things tightened up in the second.
In the end it was Shaka who won this 15 goal thriller by the odd goal thanks to three goals for Adam Wilcox, two from Phil Carroll and others from Andy Cadwallader, Mark Brookes and Jonny McAuley. Exeter will be kicking themselves for getting nothing from the game, and they fell just short despite goals from Ryan Clayton (2), Brad Robison (2), Maison Owen and Mike Belshaw.
