Summer is on it’s way! A few more fair weather teams have made their way back to Ballers this week, so the spaces that we have are starting to dwindle. If you’re thinking about getting involved, now is the time…..
LEAGUE NEWS
The BRAND NEW TUESDAY LEAGUE starts NEXT WEEK, and we are down to our FINAL SPACE! With United looking like departing the Champions League, this could be the ideal time to sign up!
Following closely on it’s heels, the BRAND NEW MONDAY LEAGUE kicks off on 4th March, and we’ve a couple of spaces in the bottom division to fill.
Sneaking up on us is the start of the NEW SUNDAY LEAGUE, which kicks off on 10th March. We WILL get to 5 divisions this time, so make sure you’re a part of it.

SUNDAY LEAGUE
PREMIERSHIP
An interesting early test for Morning Glory came this week as they took on the rapidly improving Beercalona in a game that looked like a tough one to call. It didn’t really live up to that, however, as Beercalona ran away with it after a tight opening. Luke Warburton scored 7 and Jay Ratcliffe 4 of their 16 goals as they ran out 16-4 winners. Stockport Eagles have struggled to be competitive at the top level this season, but put up a good fight against Kipsta Cobras this week before falling to a narrow 7-6 defeat, Simon Hackney scoring three of the Kipsta goals (we think, the score card did get quite wet….)
CHAMPIONSHIP
With the expected title decider between Nice Buns and Sevilla Lacatalent being scuppered this week by Buns rare cancellation, Sevilla had the chance to reclaim top spot if they could beat Polish Army, which they did at a bit of a canter. Sam Melling and Tom Jackson scored 4 each, meaning Bania’s three for the Poles was nowhere near enough as Sevilla won 11-4. Murder On Zidane’s Floor returned for the final few weeks, replacing Step Brothers who we will hope to see again next season, and their opening match upon their return was a tight one with The McMuffin Men. In the end, Danny Parkinson’s two goals were the difference as they ran out 4-2 winners.
LEAGUE ONE
With the split now in full effect, we’re at the business end of the season with the top 4 and bottom 4 playing off against each other. Fat Boys Run Wild went into this week’s round of games on top, but faced a strong looking Team Tom line up, who could yet crash the title party if they keep winning. They won this one to close the gap at the top, with Chris Philpot scoring 5 and Aaron Buczko 4 on their way to a 10-7 victory. That result meant that The Veterans could reclaim top spot with a win over Deportivo Lack Of Talent, and three goals each from Simon Grainger and Nathan Wilkinson meant they did just that in comfortable fashion with the final score ending 10-2.
Oh boy, Inter Your Sister and Roman FC didn’t make it easy for us this week, with both teams struggling for numbers as kick off time approached. WE got the game on though, and Inter ran out comfortable 12-5 winners with Leigh Edwards scoring 5 and Craig Johnson 4 as Inter look to ensure they finish as the best of the rest.
LEAGUE TWO
We were back to the start in the mini league that is League Two, with Pique Blinders looking to continue their 100% record since their return. That run started with a narrow 6-5 win over Pathetico Madrid, but it was a little more comfortable for them this time around as three goals each from Josh Borthwick and Chris Sinclair saw them run out comfortable 12-3 winners. ManTun were fresh from their first win last week, and had a chance to show how much they’ve improved as they faced Stront Bakken who hammered them 9-1 in the opening week. There were 8 different scorers of the 9 goals in this game, with just Dylan Marginarisa grabbing a double in a hard fought 6-3 win for the Bucket Boys.
FRIENDLIES
SK Six and FC AOTS were left high and dry by their opponents this week, but faced off in a competitive friendly, with SK again showing their ability to mix it at a much higher level than they’ve previously been able to, eventually losing this one 4-1 with Charley Hutchinson grabbing three of their goals.

MONDAY LEAGUE
Diva Fever had the chance to claim the Championship title this week as they faced Ruby Kazam just a few weeks after a comfortable 9-1 win over the same opposition. Doubles from Joe Dodd, Shane Bridges and Nathan Wilkinson were enough for them to edge a much tighter game this time around, with Jahid Hussain’s 4 goals not enough to stop Kazam from falling to an 8-6 defeat. A defeat for Nice Buns against an impressive Pathetico Madrid would confirm Diva Fever as Champions, and while Buns dug in as much as they could to stay in this one, 4 goals from Joe Knight were enough for Pathetico to pick up a narrow 6-5 victory, but it looks likely that these two teams will go at it again next season in the top flight.
New team Athletico Pathetico have been showing signs of improvement in recent weeks, and faced a Phantom Brazilians who will be looking forward to a season in the Championship next time around. Max Paterson celebrated being freed from the ‘keepers shackles to score a hat trick as they picked up a 6-2 win to put an end to their recent rotten run. It looks like it was a defeat to Grand Street Wanderers that will cost Expected Toulouse the top division title, so they might be kicking themselves even more after they beat the same opposition 5-2 in a friendly this week, with Liam Mottram and Jordan Milne both scoring twice. Having scrambled a team together to give someone a game this week, we ended up getting Pathetico Madrid to stop on for a second game to give them a run out, but they looked fresh enough as Joe Knight scored another 6 to add to his earlier tally as they won 11-6.

TUESDAY LEAGUE
Nothing to see here. A combination of minimal league fixtures to be completed at the end of the season, and United in Champions League action, meant this week was a wash out.

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE
A strange week for the Wednesday league, with the regular and reliable Exeter Gently and Out Of Shape FC both failing to field a side, and FC Rhino Ket only doing so by the skin of their teeth. On paper the game of the night was new team, New Team, fresh from an impressive first win last week, taking on Champions Wellspring FC. It didn’t live up to the billing in the first half as the new team raced into a 4-0 half time lead, and while Wellspring improved in the second period and at one point reduced the lead to 6-3, the three goals each from John Shaw and Rob Elliott were enough to help New Team to a 7-3 victory. The surprising game of the night came on the other pitch as Stockport Eagles and Rhino Ket went into the break all square at 6-6. A much tighter second half Eagles nick it 8-7 thanks to Ben Waugh’s last minute goal in a game where goals came from all over the pitch!
