Weekly Round Up – 5th July 2019

LEAGUE NEWS

SK Ballers are now the official league administrators for the 6-a-side leagues down at Stockport Sports Village, and with an existing Thursday league in place we will now look to add in a BRAND NEW WEDNESDAY EVENING LEAGUE. This new league will start on 31st July, with a tournament the week before on the 24th. Friendlies are available over the next two Wednesdays for any teams who might want to ease themselves into it, so if this is of any interest to you, get in touch asap!

SUNDAY LEAGUE

It was a Sunday league of two halves this week as the top two divisions imploded while there was a decent turnout in the lower leagues

PREMIERSHIP

Not a single, solitary game survived in the top division. That’s a good start…

CHAMPIONSHIP

A whopping one game went ahead in the second tier, but it wasn’t much of a match as a suspiciously strong looking Stockport Eagles hammered Netsix & Chill 13-0. Michael Winn top scored with 4, while there was three from Paul Waugh and doubles from Ray Donnelly and Lee Clarke.

LEAGUE ONE

It’s already looking like 2 Goals 1 Schlupp have gone in at a lower level than they needed to, as a team made up of players who generally play at a higher level picked up another win, easing to an 8-5 victory over The Veterans, with Michael Winn claiming another three. Team Tom are the only other unbeaten team in this division, and they played out a tight 3-3 draw with Polish Army as James Cresswell and Bania scored two each for either team. Inter Your Sister remain pointless (some might say in more ways than one!) after a third straight defeat, as SK Six picked up their first win outside of the bottom division. Harry Bridge scored 4 of their goals in a 6-3 win, and hopefully we’ll remember to give them last seasons trophies this weekend!

LEAGUE TWO

Why So Serious? are the early leaders as they ended Athletico Pathetico‘s 100% start to the season with a comfortable 14-5 win. Ben Murphy and Tom Ratcliffe scored 5 each, with Jake Smallwood’s 5 in reply for Athletico just in consolation. Deportivo Lack Of Talent are up to third but it took 36 minutes for the deadlock to be broken in their game with CA FC. Mike Devitt’s opening goal were followed by two more as a very tight game ended in a 3-0 win. There was another clean sheet in the Fat Boys Run Wild v FC Stront Bakken game this week, with the Fat Lads failing to breach the Bucket Boys defence as Bakken picked up a comfortable 5-0 win to go 4th.

MONDAY LEAGUE

PREMIERSHIP

The top division looks like it could be a belter this season, with two more tight games taking place this week. Current champs Expected Toulouse took on Kinky Slipper in a belter, and there was never more than one goal in it as Wesley Harney’s Kinky hat trick and a double for Joe Roche from Toulouse meant we ended with a 4-4 draw, as Harney’s late penalty miss cost them the win. Love Of Lacey FC got off to a good start against Grand Street Wanderers this week, going two up in the first 6 minutes. Grand Street stuck at it, but Demell Cumberbatch’s second goal 10 minutes from time helped them to a 4-2 win that sees them maintain their 100% record.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Phantom Brazilians have been out of the top flight for a couple of seasons now, having seemingly never having been able to do enough for us to relegate them! They are back on top of the Championship in the early stages after a ridiculous 19-1 win over Chief & Indians. Only having 6 players caught up with Chiefs as injuries saw them concede 12 second half goals without reply. Daniel Clayton scored 6 and Gaz Wharton 5 in the most one sided of games. Trent The Fish will be there or there abouts at the end of the season, and they picked up another win to end Cheadle FC‘s decent recent run. Shane Bridges and Michael Winn scored two each in a 6-1 victory.

FRIENDLIES

An understrength Ctrl Alt De Ligt were up for a game against Premiership Nice Buns, and the result went the way we’d expect with Tom Hall top scoring with three in an 8-2 win.

TUESDAY LEAGUE

PREMIERSHIP

Another week, another potential shift in the title race as Speshull City took on Snorting Lisbon, who were in the middle of an indifferent patch of form having initially burst onto the scene a couple of months ago. Snorting were comfortable winners the last time these two met, but Speshull were always able to keep them at arms length this wee, with two goals each from Niall Brooks, Jamie Stokes and Dean Simpson enough to help them to a 7-5 win that takes them top. Club Tropicana have run back into a bit of form recently, and they were involved in a cracking game with Sons FC this week. Danny Moss scored 4 for Tropicana, but three from James Raynor and a double from Reece Jeffs meant the points were shared in a 6-6 draw.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Despite getting hammered in a friendly last night, Michu At Dea Gea Ba are the new leaders of the Championship after Rusholme Ruffians suffered a shock first defeat, 3-2 at the hands of Barcabona, who they beat 11-2 just a few weeks ago. Alex Federico’s double for the former leaders wasn’t enough as Kyle Poole, Layton Smith and Kubi Guc capped a second half comeback from 2-0 down to claim their second win. Stroke Titty didn’t even have the comfort of a Conor Dolan consolation goal this week, as Jay Willingham’s three goals weren’t enough to stop them going down to a 6-4 defeat to Leavemyarsealona, with Jamie Stokes claiming a couple for them.

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

The title was going to either Wellspring or New Team this week, with Wellspring just needing to avoid defeat to hold onto their crown. They edged the first half and lead 2-1 at the break, but they took complete control in the second period as 4 goals from Mike Cocks helped them to a surprisingly comfortable 9-2 win and a second (maybe third) straight title. While they were busy finishing off the previous season, Sevilla Lacatalent and Stockport Eagles got their new season underway. Eagles started strongly and lead 4-3 at the break, but it was an entirely different story in the second half as Sevilla roared back with Tom Jackson claiming 6 goals as they turned things around to pick up a 10-4 win.

THURSDAY LEAGUE

WOODLEY

The Ballers take over at Stockport Sports Village finally took place last night, with the first game of the brand new Thursday league. The biggest win of the night came when two new teams faced off, as Gareth Lager Sometimes Cider beat High Lane FC 6-0 with Elliott Jones grabbing a hat trick. B&B 1997 also kept a clean sheet as they beat the 5 men of Soccer PM 3-0. Shaun Harding scored and claimed the MOTM award as B&B spread the goals around. The opening game of the night was a good one as Longue Yids picked up a hard fought opening day win, beating Sporting Keumgang 4-2. Steven Chipchase claimed three for Yids, with Jordan Conway scoring a brace in reply for Sporting. Long standing Hyde FC‘s first game was a goal fest against new / returning side FC 6 or 7. Ryan Hurst’s 4 goals for FC weren’t enough for them to claim a point from their opening game as Gene Hoole scored three and Chris Sheridan two as Hyde won a cracking game 7-6, though the individual highlight of the game was probably Craig Council’s goal from inside his own half.

Longue Yids stopped on to give last season’s champions Adswood Reformed a game, but they might have wished they hadn’t as it was hat tricks all round for John Holt, Dan Sowter, Dane Wood and Liam Longford as Adswood ran out 14-5 winners.

REDDISH

The only game of the night in the Reddish Thursday league was a belter as the two teams with a 100% record went head to head. Xavi Dodgers looked to have the game sewn up at the break as two goals from Michael Winn and one from Lee Clarke saw them lead 3-0 against Nigel De Mong, Nigel flew out of the traps at the start of the sedon period though, and 4 goals in 10 minutes, two from Harry Arden, saw them go 4-3 up with 14 to play. They couldn’t quite hold on though, as Ray Donnelly’s late equiliser ended both sides 100% records, with both teams remaining unbeaten.

We are so close to starting up our new leagues at Stockport Sports Village we can almost taste it! Here’s what’s happening when we take over…

NEW THURSDAY LEAGUE: Starts 4th July. ONE SPACE AVAILABLE!

BRAND NEW WEDNESDAY LEAGUE: Starts 24th July. 6 spaces already filled, but that now means we will be counting down the final 10 teams needed to ensure we start with two divisions of 8. The spaces will go, if you want one you best not hang around!

SUNDAY LEAGUE

PREMIERSHIP

Gangs Of Dwight Yorke made a statement in their first appearance of the new season, as they beat the reigning champions Beercalona 8-2 this week. Two goals from Kyle Clarke helped them into a 4-0 half time lead, which a pair of Luke Warburton goals halved early in the second period. Chris Singleton scored two late on as Gangs ended strongly to pick up an impressive win. The title race could be an interesting one this season, as Wilmslow Whoppers also got off to a winning start, with Olly Ford’s 4 goals helping them to a 6-3 win over Kipsta Cobras as they went 6-0 up inside the first 28 minutes befire Kipsta responded late on.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Sevilla Lacatalent are the early leaders in the Championship after they recovered from being 3-2 down at half time against Netsix & Chill to pick up an 8-5 victory to make it two wins out of two to start the season. Jake Riley scored 4 and Tom Jackson three as tey struck three goals in the final 5 minutes to claim the win, with Kai Lawless scoring two in reply for Netsix. Nice Buns B go second after their first win from their first match. They were surprisingly comfortable 9-3 winners over The McMuffin Men, with Charlie Williamson unsurprisingly picking up the MOTM award for his 6 goals. Bangers & Pash were also down for their first game, and they also picked up a first win as they won a competitive game with Stockport Eagles 7-5. Mike Rodden and Callum Campbell shared the goals between them, with Rodden claiming 4, while Paul Waugh scored three in a losing cause for Eagles.

LEAGUE ONE

Team Tom are off to a winning start for their season as Carl Carter and James Cresswell scored two apiece as they beat Inter Your Sister 4-0 in one of the longest standing games in the history of small sided football in Stockport. Some of the lads from SK Six were probably still in nappies the first time Team Tom and Inter faced off, but they played their first game outside of the bottom division this week against Polish Army. Harry Bridge’s hat trick wasn’t enough to see them claim a point though, as they were beaten 5-4 as Bania also claimed a treble for the Poles.

LEAGUE TWO

Sunday football seems to be suiting Athletico Pathetico, and they made it two wins from two this week by beating Step Brothers 8-4. Debutants Jake Brooks and Latham Whitehead scored the bulk of the goals, with Brooks scoring 4 and Whitehead three, with Tom Cioffi and Chris Moore scoring two each in reply for the Brotherhood. Why So Serious? have their first Ballers win in their first league game, as they narrowly defeated FC Stront Bakken 5-4. Two early Scott Williams goals put them in charge, but they were hanging on in the end as two goals from Declan Matthews and Lukas Voveris’ late second reduced their lead to just one. Yeovil Casuals debuted in the Ballers league (finally!), and picked up a first point from a 3-3 draw with Deportivo Lack Of Talent, with Rob Prince scoring a hat trick for them on their first night.

FRIENDLIES

A mix up involving the Six Offenders (formerly KR FC) meant only three of their players turned up for their game with Duno. Duno kindly lent some players in order to get a game on, and it’s fair to say the game wasn’t taken overly seriously as Duno won 18-7. Athletico Pathetico stopped on to give CA FC a game, and picked up a second win by 11 goals to 2, with Vincenzo Napolitano scoring 5.

MONDAY LEAGUE

PREMIERSHIP

It was champion vs champions this week, but Expected Toulouse went into the game with Wheel Madrid as heavy favourites as Premiership winners. The Championship winners took a surprise lead through Jahid Hussain’s 5th minute goal, but their lead lasted just a solitary minute. In the end Liam Mottram’s scored two as Toulouse stay top after a 6-1 win. Kinky Slipper shared the goals around as they made it two wins out of two with a 4-2 victory over Nice Buns, who remain pointless after three games. Two goals in a minute half way through the second half from James Radcliffe and Johnny Dambrosio sealed the hard fought win.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Ctrl Alt De Ligt were two from two and top after an impressive win over Trent The Fish last week, but they were brought back down to earth by Phantom Brazilians this week. Phantom were in control after Daniel Clayton put them in front 9 minutes from the break, and his second, along with doubles from Ryan Clayton and Robin Hulme helped them to a 7-3 win. They join De Ligt on 6 points, with both teams now behind Trent The Fish on goal difference after they beat Chief & Indians 8-2, with Dan Arnold scoring three, Michael Winn and Shane Bridges two each. This division looks wide open, and another team joined the 6 pointer club as Cheadle FC made it back to back wins, beating Delph & Safety 7-4. Evan Farrell and Jordan Hardman scored twice each, while Joe Keyworth hit a couple in reply for Delph.

THE MONDAY LEAGUE IS CURRENTLY FULL! LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR AN IMMEDIATE START

TUESDAY LEAGUE

PREMIERSHIP

Club Tropicana seem to be picking back up after a dodgy mid season spell that has seen them drop out of the title race, but they can still cause damage to other teams hopes of winning the title and did just that this week. They were never once in front in their clash with Snorting Lisbon, but were never more than two goals behind before Andrew Cochran’s 4th of the game in the final minute gave them a point from an 8-8 draw. James Taylor scored three, Kris Fawcett and Rob Brocklehurst two each from Snorting, while Danny Moss also added a couple for Tropicana in a brilliant game. We dropped an absolute clanger this week by asking Sons to move game times to play Speshull City after Gangsta’a Allardyce and For Fuch’s Sake had to cancel, but they didn’t have an outstanding league game to play so had to face off for the third time in 4 weeks in a friendly. Matt Peck scored 5 for Sons, but that paled into insignificance compared to the 10 that Niall Brooks scored as a crazy game ended up 19-8 to Speshull. Apologies to both teams again…

CHAMPIONSHIP

Rusholme Ruffians remained top of the Championship despite not playing last night, but Stroke Titty picked up their first win since the league split, with Conor Dolan finally scoring a goal that wasn’t a consolation. He grabbed one of their 8 goals in an 8-5 win over Michu At De Gea Ba, with callum Jones scoring three, Jay Willingham and Sam Tattersall two each, Leavemyarsealona also picked up a first win as they saw off Barcabona 8-4, with Jamies Stokes claiming a hat trick. Mark Markwell also grabbed a double for Leavemy, with Layton Smith and Harry Arden claiming two each in reply.

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Exeter Gently ran New Team close last week, but it didn’t look like being the same against Wellspring this week as the title contenders went into the break with a 5-2 lead. Shane Bridges third of the game 10 minutes into the second half made it 6-3 with 15 to play, but Exeter weren’t for giving this one up, and Mike Belshaw leveled things up after Rob Milarvie had scored three to keep them in the game. A final result of 6-6 takes the possibility of the title going to goal difference out of the equation, so if Wellspring avoid defeat to New Team next week they will claim the title again. Sevilla Lacatalent jumped ship from Tuesday to Wednesday, and started off with an 11-2 friendly win over Out Of Shape FC, as Tom Jack son and Sam Melling scored 4 goals each.

We figure this is the best way of doing it…

As Ballers prepares to take over the running of the leagues down at Stockport Sports Village, we would like to take this opportunity to give our new teams a little bit of an insight as to how we do things.

We are aware that another operator had, until fairly recently, been running the leagues down there and doing it their way, but the first significant difference between what they were offering compared to us is that ours is being done in partnership with Life Leisure, rather than on a fixed pitch hire agreement. This gives us greater flexibility that we can pass on down to the teams as we don’t have the financial burden of having pitch fees to pay, even if teams don’t play. This means that we are able to:

  • Run the leagues without asking teams to sign contracts
  • Run the leagues without having to ask the teams to pay for games they don’t play
  • Be flexible in how we arrange fixtures based around things like holidays, Champions League, Europa league etc

We’ve always ran our business with the basic idea that if we do our best to look after the teams, the money will take care of itself, so as long as you meet us half way on everything, everything will be just fine!

The key for us is communication. We will send out your kick off time, along with some other general information 3-4 days before your game, and on the day we will ask that all teams confirm by sending through a list of their players for that night’s game. These will be used to prepare the referees score cards so we can record the individual player stats for each game on the website.

WEBSITE

If you register on the website we will assign you your own profile. Once we’ve done that you can keep track of your stats including appearances, goals, MOTM’s, win % etc. You can even add a profile picture, nationality, squad number, position, height and weight (if you really want to).

All fixtures, tables and results, along with top goalscorers and the individual stats from each game will be housed on this website, and there is also a Weekly League Review where we round up each week’s action.

GAME POSTPONEMENTS

If you are ever struggling to field a side we would appreciate as much notice as possible, but a bare minimum of two hours notice if you want to hold out any hope that we can postpone the game and get it replayed. We don’t think that’s too much to ask! The more notice you can give us, the better the chances are of us sorting a game out for your opposition, and if a couple of teams in the same division cancel, our priority will be to pull a league game forward rather than asking teams to play friendlies. The general rule is that teams can postpone a maximum of two games per season, with any more than that being punishable with a forfeit defeat, but again we try and show flexibility depending on what is going on that night. We want leagues to be won or lost through games played, not forfeit wins.

NEW LEAGUES

We’re looking forward to getting started with the NEW THURSDAY LEAGUE kicking off on 4th July, and the response we’ve had for that has been encouraging, with at least 4 new teams set to join us at the last count. Our aim is to create that split in standards and go with two divisions of 6, introducing promotion and relegation.

Once the Thursday league is up and running we will be looking to get a BRAND NEW WEDNESDAY LEAGUE on the go, with 7 of the 16 spaces all potentially spoken for before we’ve really lifted a finger to get it going! Our aim is to get the league started before the end of July, with the possibility of a tournament within the next few weeks to try and bring some new teams in.

Whatever you guys can do to help us spread the word would be massively helpful. At the end of the day having full leagues means you guys get a regular game and a greater variety of opposition, so if you see us pop anything on any of our social media sites, give them a little like, share retweet or whatever.

Weekly Round Up – 14th June 2019

LEAGUE NEWS

The really big news this week, in case you missed it, is that we are taking over the running of the leagues down at Stockport Sports Village! We take over once the current Thursday league finishes on 20th June, with the new league set to start on 4th July. We will be hosting a introductory tournament on 27th June for any teams who want to come and have a look at the set up beofre deciding to get involved.

Once that Thursday league has started, work will turn to getting a Wednesday league off the ground, so if you’re interested in either of the above, get in touch.

In Reddish news, the new Sunday league starts this weekend, so there is still just about time to get the numbers together to sign up. The new Thursday league also starts next week, and while we have a large number of interested teams, we will be finalising numbers this week on a first come, first served basis!

SUNDAY LEAGUE

Oh boy, the final night of the season, Park Life, England playing etc caused a few issues for those wanting to field a team this week…

PREMIERSHIP

Nope, no games here…

CHAMPIONSHIP

A couple of games survived this week, and Nice Buns B ended up Spursying the end of their season as they ended up finishing third in a two horse race as Sevilla Lacatalent beat them 9-7 in the final game to leapfrog them into second spot. Charlie Williamson’s 5 goals for Buns made him the games top scorer, but he was on the losing side as Sam Melling scored for for Sevilla to help them to victory. The Veterans final game in the Championship (for now) at least saw them end their rotten run by picking up a point from a 4-4 draw with Bangers & Pash. Andy Carrington and Andy Brennan scored two each for either team, as Bangers came from 4-1 down to claim a point.

LEAGUE ONE

Only one game took place as the League One season drew to a conclusion, and Team Tom claimed second place after a hard fought 7-6 victory over Polish Army in a game where both teams could only field 5 players. Ali Jafar scored 5 of The Tommers goals, the last one in the last minute to help them to a a narrow win.

LEAGUE TWO

Again, just the one game in the bottom division, and Step Brothers took the opportunity to carry a little momentum into the new season as they picked up a comfortable 9-2 win over CA FC. Tom Cioffi scored 4, while Rob Sheldon and Mark Carruthers weighed in with doubles.

FRIENDLIES

The not entirely new but officially new 2 Goals 1 Schlupp debuted in a friendly with FC AOTS, and played out a highly entertaining and competitive 9-9 draw. Chris Murray bagged 4 for AOTS which was matched by 4 from Mark Carruthers (the same one), in a game which gives us an idea as to where Schlupp should start their Ballers life.

THE BRAND NEW SUNDAY LEAGUE STARTS THIS WEEKEND – SPACES CAN BE FOUND FOR NEW OR RETURNING TEAMS – GET IN TOUCH FOR DETAILS

MONDAY LEAGUE

Full house this week for the first game of the new season. This makes us happy.

PREMIERSHIP

The returning, renamed Love Of Lacey FC were back for the start of the new Monday league season, and they got off to a winning start against Nice Buns. The Singletons were responsible for 7 of their 9 goals as Jason scored 4 and Chris 3 in their 9-3 win. The also renamed Wheel Madrid (formerly Ruby Kazan) were hoping for better fortune in the top division than the last time they were here, and they were 6 minutes away from an opening day win over former champs Netsix & Chill. However, 4 goals in those last 6 minutes, two from Jimmy Leeson giving hi three for the match, gave Netsix a 7-4 win to start the season. The champions, Expected Toulouse faced a tough task in the opening week against last season’s runners up Grand Street Wanderers. A tight first half saw the teams go in level at 1-1 at the break, but when Baillie Blomeley added a third for Toulouse three minutes after Matt Bruckshaw’s goal, and with Grand Street reduced to 5 players due to injury, the result looked done. However, Alex Jones rescued an unlikely point for GSW in the final minute as both teams start the season with a point.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Ctrl Alt De Ligt will be hoping for big things from this season’s Championship campaign, and they took advantage of catching Chief & Indians at a time while they are still trying to sort a settled team out. Pete Tickle top scored with 4, while Josh Armitage helped himself to three as De Ligt ran out comfortable 12-2 winners, though we wouldn’t mind betting on this one being closer when they next meet… Trent The Fish will also fancy their chances of promotion this season, and they ran away with their game against Delph & Safety in the second half this week, as Dan Arnold added three to his solitary first half goal to help them turn a 3-1 half time lead into an 8-1 opening night win. Cheadle FC finally got their wish of starting off in the Championship, and looked set for a winning start as they lead Phantom Brazilians 4-3 at the break. Phantom have been in good form of late though, and they fought back in the second period to pick up a 7-4 win, with Clayton’s Ryan and Daniel grabbing a couple each.

We also had a full house on Tuesday on the first night since the league split. Happy days…

PREMIERSHIP

Having ended Snorting Lisbon’s 100% record last week, Gangsta’s Allardyce were looking to consolodate their place at the top of the Premiership with a win over For Fuch’s Sake, who themselves were only 5 points off the top at the start of play. The leaders edged the first half and lead 1-0 at the break through Jonathon Holt’s goal, and his second of the game in the final minute clinched a hard fought 4-1 win. At one point it looked like no one was going to be able to stop Snorting Lisbon, but fresh off the back of their first defeat last week they found themselves in another tough game with Sons FC this week. Snorting looked in control at 3-0 with 5 minutes of the opening half to go, but a flurry of goals meant that Sons only trailed by one at 4-3 at the break. Late goals from Reece Jeffs and Matt Peck, his third of the game, looked to have earned Sons a 7-5 win, but Steven Bulger’s third in the final seconds nicked a point for Lisbon in a game where Sons ‘keeper Joe Amans was deservedly named MOTM. It’s beginning to look like the title is going to come down to one of three, Gangsta’s, Snorting or Speshull City, who were 8-4 winners over Club Tropicana this week. Nicky Stokes grabbed a hat trick and Niall Brooks scored two in a game that Speshull were always in control of.

CHAMPIONSHIP

The 6 team Championship, consisting of three new teams, got off to a fresh start this week, with new teams victorious in two out of the three games. Rusholme Ruffians won their first league match, 6-1 against Stroke Titty, with own goal their top scorer with two as they spread the goals about, but Conor Dolan continued his streak of scoring consolation goals for Stroke with their solitary strike. Happy now…? Sevilla Lacatalent took early control of their game with Leavemyarsealona, going three up in the first 10 minutes and leading 4-1 at the break. The second half was a tighter affair, but Sevilla ran out 6-3 winners, with Sam Melling and Tom Jackson grabbing two each. The deadlock in the Michu At De Gea v Barcabona game was only broken in the final minute of the first half, and there was a danger that there might be a repeat of last week’s second half collapse for Barca when they went three down early in the second period, but they made more of a fight of it this week, before Michael Jennison’s two goals eased Michu to a 5-2 win.

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Two fairly one sided games took place this week, as New Team and Wellspring continue their two horse race at the top of the table. New Team increased their goal difference by 8 this week as they dispatched FC Rhino Ket 12-4, Adam Murphy scoring 5 and Matt Brown three. Wellspring made up a goal in the goal difference stakes, and retain their game in hand as they brought Stockport Eagles back down to earth with a thumping 14-5 win. with Dan Arnold and Lewis Arden scoring 4 each.

THURSDAY LEAGUE

The final Thursday mini tournament ahead of the start of the new Thursday league took place this week, with 6 more teams down for a bit of pre-season action. Barcabona made the final again, dropping points in two draws in the group stage, one in their final game against Ambition FC. Unfortunately for Ambition, that draw meant they missed out on the final by just one goal as Hillgate Boys took the other final spot. The two sides had drawn in the group stage, but Hillgate got the better of the final, holding on for a 2-1 win that sees them claim their first league game next week for free.

SK BALLERS ARE COMING TO SSV!

Exciting breaking news from Ballers HQ is that we are soon to take over the running of the current leagues at Stockport Sports Village, with a view to adding extra leagues as we go on.

Currently SSV has a THURSDAY evening 6-a-side league, which starts a new season on 4th July, and there is currently room to accomodate THREE MORE TEAMS.

Once that league has started, we will be looking to get a WEDNESDAY league back up and running. The Wednesday league used to be one of the most popular league nights at SSV, so we hope to see a lot of the old teams back when we get that up and running.

For any of the existing teams who are concerned about an outside operator coming in and taking over the leagues given what happened previously, we would hope that none of the issues that arose before would be repeated. We are working in partnership with Life Leisure on this, we are not just hiring their pitches and trying to get teams to sign up to contracts. We will be primarily responsible for the administration of the league in terms of housing the tables, results and fixtures on the SK Ballers website, along with the same FULL PLAYER STATS AND PROFILES that the players of our current leagues enjoy (appearances, goals, MOTM’s, win percentages, clean sheets etc). We will have the weekly communication with teams with regards to confirming league fixtures and ensuring your opposition are also attending, and we will do what we can to get you a game on the odd week where your opposition might not be available. We pride ourselves on being as flexible as possible, so as long as you work with us everything will be fine!

We are excited to get started, and with the existing league finishing next week, a tournament will be held on 27th June, before the new league starts the week after, on the 4th July. This will give us a bit of time to have a smooth handover with Life Leisure, meaning everything is in place, good to go, and hopefully with a full league by the league start date.

A lot of this might look quite similar to the same section of last week’s review, but if it ain’t broke…

BRAND NEW THURSDAY LEAGUE

We’ll be getting this kicked off as soon as we have enough teams to get it going, hopefully on or before 20th June. If we’ve got the teams, we’ll get it started ahead of this date, so don’t hang around if you’re thinking about it. The final Thursday mini tournament takes place NEXT THURSDAY, so this is your last chance to see if football on a Thursday fits you.

NEW SUNDAY LEAGUE

Our biggest league night restarts on 16th June, and with pitch space not much of an issue we can add extra teams and divisions as demand dictates. If your 11’s season has just finished or you are a student who’s home for summer, why not get involved…?

We’ll mention this, though as it stands we have no spaces to offer. If Monday is absolutely the only night you can play, get in touch to join our waiiting list. The new league kicks off next week.

SUNDAY LEAGUE

It’s been a tricky season, full of bank holidays, a Premiership title race and the last knockings of the Sunday morning 11-a-side season, but the NEW SEASON STARTS NEXT WEEK, so here’s to a nice long summer of uninterupted Ballers action!

PREMIERSHIP

It’s probably just as well for Beercalona that they had the title wrapped up when they did, as they suffered a second successive heavy defeat this week as Gangs Of Dwight Yorke set their stall out for a title challenge next season. Ray Donnelly and debutant Adam Russell both scored 4 as Gangs eased to an 11-2 win against a Beercalona side who were short of a couple of regular players this week. Duno picked up where they left off last week As Caylem Bateson’s 4 goals helped them to a 7-1 win over Kipsta Cobras, as they also look set to have a decent campaign next time out.

CHAMPIONSHIP

FC AOTS have suffered a similar collapse having clinched their title, as they lost for the third week in a row, this time 8-5 to Sevilla Lacatalent. Robson Smith’s triple for AOTS wasn’t enough as Tom Jackson scored 4 as Sevilla came back from trailing at the break with a strong second period. Bangers & Pash and Nice Buns may be meeting again next season, and they looked well matched this week as Callum Campbell’s Bangers hat trick was matched by a treble from Charlie Williamson for Buns in a 5-5 draw.

LEAGUE ONE

The McMuffin Men were looking to complete a perfect season in League One before they step up to the Championship, but they needed two late goals to salvage a point from a 4-4 draw with Team Tom, who will be wondering how they let this one slip. To be fair, their top scorer in this one was ‘own goal’ with two, while Mark Bailey’s third in the final minute gave McMuffin’s a point. FC Stront Bakken will be returning to the bottom division next season, and Inter Your Sister picked up a straightforward three points this week from a 9-3 win with Scott Norris scoring 5, three of which were in the final three minutes, while Craig Johnson scored three of his own.

LEAGUE TWO

SK Six final game of a triumphant League Two season saw them pick up a point from a 4-4 draw with Step Brothers. Harry Bridge and Max Blunsten Shepherd scored twice for SK, with Josh Armitage matching that for The Brotherhood.

FRIENDLIES

A trio of friendlies took place this week, with Wilmslow Whoppers continuing to serve notice to the rest of the Premiership that they are on their way back next season, as they beat KR FC 11-8. Dan Exley top scored for Whoppers with three, but they spread the goals around meaning Jake Dean’s 5 counted for very little. Netsix & Chill could be starting life in the Championship after they comfortably beat Stockport Eagles 7-2 this week with Kai Lawless scoring three, and The Veterans were comfortable 10-1 winners over Deportivo Lack Of Talent, with Simon Grainger and Mike Devitt grabbing three each.

MONDAY LEAGUE

PREMIERSHIP

The Monday league drew to a conclusion for another season with a Premiership title still to be decided. Expected Toulouse just needed a point to confirm themselves as winners, but dethroned Champions Netsix & Chill weren’t going to make it easy for them. In the end Ryan Dolan’s late double gave them a 6-4 win as he added to Matt Bruckshaw’s earlier double as Toulouse won the title for a second(?) time. Second place was still to play for as Nice Buns and Grand Street Wanderers faced off, with Grand Street still holding out hope of catching Toulouse if they were to slip up. After going in level at half time, GSW took control in the second half, scoring 4 without reply to end their season on a high with a 5-1 win, Rob Morris scoring three.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Just the one Championship game remained, and it was a pretty one sided affair as Phantom Brazilians strolled to a 16-3 win over Athletico Pathetico. Gaz Wharton and Daniel Clayton shared 12 of the 16 goals as Phantom ended a sometimes tricky season in second place.

FRIENDLIES

Ruby Kazan will be heading up while Ctrl Alt De Ligt will be staying where they are, despite De Ligt’s improvements as the season has gone on. Ruby were a couple of players down this week, and De Ligt took full advantage as Josh Greaves scored 4 and Fidelis Eberegbe three as they turned a 4-3 half time lead into a 10-3 full time victory. Cheadle FC and Trent The Fish will be meeting again next season as Cheadle drop into the Championship, and Michael Winn’s two goals helped Trent to a 5-1 win. Chief & Indians were back, fresh from their hammering from last week, but they were much more competitive this week. They eventually lost 7-3 to Delph & Safety, as doubles from Liam Connor and Matt Tracey helped Delph to the win, with Paul Wilkinson scoring two in reply for Chiefs.

THE NEW MONDAY SEASON STARTS NEXT WEEK, BUT WE ARE ALREADY OVERLY FULL!

TUESDAY LEAGUE

Snorting Lisbon were looking to maintain their 100% start to Ballers life, which would see them head into the final part of the season in top spot. This seemed extremely unlikely as Gangsta’s Allardyce had other ideas, flying into a 5-0 half time lead. Snorting weren’t helped by having to play most of the second half with 5 men, but they did threaten a comeback, pulling it back to 5-3 with 18 minutes to play. Gangsta’s made the extra man count in the final stages as Joe Bailey grabbed a hat trick in the final 7 minutes to add to Abdullah’s first half treble to give Gangsta’s top spot after a 9-3 win. For a long while it looked like Sons FC might be pulling off a minor shock as they lead against Speshull City for long periods. Late goals from Jamie and Nicky Stokes gave Speshull the edge as they clinched an 11-10 win, with Tom North and Luke Walker both grabbing hat tricks, while Asa Melville’s three for Sons counted for nothing. For Fuch’s Sake clinched their top 6 spot at the split, and are just 4 points off the lead in 5th place after they beat Leavemyarsealona 6-4, with Alex Bradburn the only player to grab a double.

Two more new teams joined us this week, and they both ran out winners. Rusholme Ruffians turned a 3-2 lead over Barcabona into an 11-2 win, with Darren Willan scoring 7, and Sevilla Lacatalent were 5-3 winners over Club Tropicana as Tom Jackson scored a couple of late goals to give him three for the night.

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

One of the top two finally blinked this week, as Wellspring and New Team both went into this weeks games having only dropped two points, to each other in their earlier 3-3 draw. New Team were surprisingly beaten 5-4 by struggling Stockport Eagles this week. Two late goals from Ben Waugh, adding to the double from Matt Kealy, gave Eagles the shock win, with Jack Hopkinson’s two goals for New Team counting for nothing. Wellspring have joined New Team on 16 points with a game in hand, and did their goal difference some good by beating Out Of Shape FC 11-3. Shane Bridges top scored with 4 of their goals as Wellspring stay second by just 4 goals. Exeter Gently won the battle of the bottom two as they beat FC Rhino Ket 8-3 to leave the Rhinos cast adrift at the bottom of the table. Kristian Igo and Mike Belshaw both claimed hat tricks, but it was Exeter ‘keeper Matt Coleman who claimed the MOTM award.

THE WEDNESDAY LEAGUE REMAINS FULL – SUNDAY OR THURSDAY ARE THE LEAGUES WITH CURRENT AVAILABILITY

THURSDAY LEAGUE

After the 6 teams turnout last week, we could only manage half that this week as the England game caused issues. The newly named Xavi Dodgers, one of the first confirmed teams for the new league, won all of their group games to qualify for the final, while Barcabona joined them after beating Ambition FC 2-1 in their final group game. They couldn’t repeat that in the final, as despite a valiant effort they conceded two late goals to lose 2-0 to Xavi.

We go again next week, let’s try and get up to 10 teams….

Easter bank holiday ensured that the top division was wiped out, as week after we had our first full house in ages….

CHAMPIONSHIP

Only one game survived this week, and it confirmed The Veterans return to the third tier as they lost their 7th game in a row, 5-2 to Sevilla Lacatalent, Jake Riley grabbing a brace as Sevilla go third.

LEAGUE ONE

The McMuffin Men remain on course for a perfect season as they beat FC Stront Bakken 6-3 to put the rubber stamp on their League One title success. Daniel Havern scored all 6 of their goals, and unsurprisingly picked up the MOTM award for his troubles.

LEAGUE TWO

The Rocky story in League Two had it’s happy conclusion as SK Six confirmed themselves as Champions, beating CA FC 7-3 to go 8 points clear at the top. Harry Bridge scored three and Max Blunsten Shepherd two as the team who barely had a win to their name before this season made it 8 wins out of 10. Out of nowhere, Deportivo Lack Of Talent have thrust themselves into the second promotion spot, and extended their lead over third placed Pathetico Madrid to 5 points with a 9-4 win over Step Brothers as Jordan Ellwood helped himself to 6 of their total.

FRIENDLIES

A few friendlies this week as teams keep active ahead of the new season, or make up for a cancelled opposition. Duno FC showed they have the potential with a fairly settled team to do well next season as they beat champions Beercalona 8-3, with Kaylem (no surname as of yet) scoring three. Ketsix & Pills rejoined us this week and got off to an impressive start, beating Championship leaders FC AOTS 6-3. AOTS form seems to have deserted them recently (coinciding with them dropping out of the Tuesday league, perhaps…), and two goals each from Kai Lawless and Jaden Robinson was enough to give the new team the win. Stockport Eagles fielded a strong team this week for their friendly with Inter Your Sister, and the 10-2 win suggests they might be on for better things next season. Ray Donnelly scored three and it was doubles for Michael Winn, Paul Waugh and Lee Clarke on a comfortable night for them. Ketsix stuck around to give KR FC a game, and the step up was a little too much for them for now, as in a crazy game KR ran out 17-8 winners, with Jake Dean scoring 6.

THE BRAND NEW SUNDAY LEAGUE KICKS OFF ON 16TH JUNE – SPACES AVAILABLE AS WE LOOK TO CONTINUE OUR EXPANSION…!

The Monday league is approaching it’s conclusion, and 4 games were played this bank holiday, with only one of them counting towards league points…

PREMIERSHIP

Nope, that one game wasn’t in this division…

CHAMPIONSHIP

The only Championship game was a strange one as the very new look Phantom Brazilians took on Delph & Safety. Just the one first half goal gave Phantom the edge, but that one goal lead became 4- early in the second half and the game looked to be over. Mitch Massa scored two to bring Delph back into it with 11 minutes to play, but in those 11 minutes Phantom smashed in 8 without reply to pick up a 12-2 win. Jamie Reding scored half of their goals (5 of them in the last 7 minutes!) and Charlie Gallagher helped himself to three.

FRIENDLIES

Championship winners Ruby Kazan took on Trent The Fish in an interesting looking game that didn’t look so interesting when Trent lead 5-0 with 15 minutes left, Michael Winn with two of them. Kazan hit back in the latter stages and three Howie Thomas-Leech goals helped them to get within one, and they would have nicked a draw if it wasn’t for a late Josh Heslop penalty save. Cheadle FC are Championship bound for the new season, they had a competitive friendly with Ctrl Alt De Ligt that the latter won 6-2 with doubles fro Danny Murphy and Pete Tickle. A slightly less competitive game saw the newly formed Chief & Indians take a 14-0 beating at the hands of Nice Buns, a result that gives us an indication that they might need to start at a lower level… Charlie Williamson scored 5 of Buns goals.

IF ANYTHING, THE MONDAY LEAGUE IS OVER FULL! LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR LEAGUE SPACES!

TUESDAY LEAGUE

The wheels have certainly come loose for Club Tropicana in recent weeks as they have dropped from clear leaders to third as they struggle to field a regular team, so this probably wasn’t the week for them to be playing Snorting Lisbon. They did score the first and last goal in this game, but nothing in between as Kris Fawcett scored half of Snorting’s 12 goals as they take over at the top with a comfortable win. The Speshull City v Michu At De Gea Ba looked like it could go all the way as we went into the break all square at 3-3, but the second half was a one sided affair as Speshull scored 9 goals without reply to secure their place inside the top 6 for the league split. Luke Walker scored 4 and Chris Gee three in an emphatic win. For Fuch’s Sake have been there or there abouts all season, but were looking to bounce back from their hiding at the hands of Gangsta’s last week with a win over Sons this week. This was a good game that Fuch’s always had the edge in, and three goals from Jake Tyler helped them clinch an 8-6 win that sees Sons on the brink of missing out on the top 6.

Fuch’s then stopped on to give new boys Barcabona a game, and the new team gave as good as they got for all bar 5 minutes of this one, as 4 late goals gave Fuch’s a 10-6 win, Liam Paull grabbed 5 for Fuch’s, meaning Layton Smith’s 5 for ‘Bona were in a losing cause.

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Another week, another pair of wins for New Team and Wellspring as they take a firm grip on the top two spaces in the Wednesday League. New Team only lead by one at the break against Out Of Shape FC, before eventually pulling away to win 8-3 in a strong second half. Johnny Taylor top scored with three of their goals, while there was two each for Rob Elliot and Matt Brown. Wellspring were always in control of their game with Exeter Gently this week, and Danny Arnold scored 4 of their 9 in a 9-5 win, added to by three from Shane Bridges, with Adam Robison also baggin a hat trick in reply for Exeter. Stockport Eagles picked up a rare win for this season as they beat FC Rhino Ket 10-5, with Aden Jones scoring 4 and Ben Waugh three.

THE WEDNESDAY LEAGUE REMAINS FULL. IT’S A GOOD JOB WE HAVE SPACES IN OUR SUNDAY, TUESDAY AND THURSDAY LEAGUES…!

THURSDAY LEAGUE

We finally have some Thursday action to write about after last weeks ‘Polling’ issue (giggidy). 6 teams came down for the first of our Thursday mini tournaments as we head towards to start of our brand new Thursday league, with spaces filling fast.

From the early stages it looked fairly clear that the final was going come from two of Insole, Stockport Eagles or Peru, who had won both our Ballers World Cup and Christmas Cup. Insole and Peru drew in their first game before going on to pick up consecutive wins, while Eagles picked up 9 points from 9 to start the tournament. Ketsix & Pills and Polish Army were competitive in most games but struggled to pick up many points, with the Army picking up the only three pointer that either team managed when they won the head to head 2-0. For Fuch’s Sake started very slowly, and by the time they won their first game, in their final game against the Poles, the best they could do was 4th place. A 2-0 win for Eagles over Peru in the penultimate round of games secured their place in the final, and Insole joined them and eliminated the two time cup winners by beating Eagles 2-1 in the following game.

Weekly Round Up – 24th May 2019

LEAGUE NEWS

We got so close to getting our first Thursday night action on this week, but those pesky EU elections meant we couldn’t use the club this week. There’s always next week, and we’ll be doing another tournament NEXT THURSDAY, 30TH MAY at 8pm. The league will start as soon as we’ve got enough teams to get going, but we don’t think it will take long.

We’ve also got our NEW SUNDAY & MONDAY LEAGUES starting in the next few weeks, so there are plenty of options for anyone who is looking to get their team signed up.

SUNDAY LEAGUE

PREMIERSHIP

Beercalona look to be on the brink of retaining their Sunday league title as they edged a cracking game 10-7 against Morning Glory, with Tykio Williams claiming 6 of their goals. The only team who can now catch them are Gangs Of Dwight Yorke, but that looks unlikley after they were surprisingly beaten 9-3 by a Duno side who are slowly piecing together a pretty decent team. Kaylon top scored for them with 5 as they look to secure a top division space for next season. On a full night for the top flight, Kipsta Cobras picked up their second win of the season, beating KR FC 6-4, with the new boys potentially looking at a season in the Championship when the new league kicks off next month. Jack Horgan and Kyle Clarke both scored doubles for Kipsta, while Jake Dean did likewise in reply for KR.

CHAMPIONSHIP

A strange night in the Championship as the top two were both comfortably beaten. FC AOTS first defeat of the season was finally inflicted by Bangers & Pash, who picked up an 8-3 win to mirror the scoreline from the previous time these two sides met. Rory Kelly and Lewis (just Lewis) grabbed three each on a night that AOTS will want to forget. Nice Buns B‘s only previous defeats this season had been against AOTS, but they conceded 5 second half goals without reply to lose 7-2 to Sevilla Lacatalent, with Tom Jackson scoring three of the Sevilla goals.

LEAGUE ONE

The title race is just about done and dusted in League One, as The McMuffin Men‘s 7-4 win over Inter Your Sister sees them go 6 points clear at the top. Rob Cresswell grabbed the three second half goals that secured the win in a keenly contested game. Polish Army lead the race for second place as they beat FC Stront Bakken 9-3, with Bania netting the bulk of the goals with 5. Team Tom have the games in hand but aren’t in the best of form, meaning that race could go to the wire, and they were beaten 5-2 by Step Brothers this week, with Josh Armitage scoring three.

LEAGUE TWO

We look to be on the brink of a true underdog story in the Sunday basement, as SK Six, who barely had a win to their name prior to the start of this season, are on the brink of the League Two title. They beat Pathetico Madrid 4-1 this week, with the goals spread out between 4 different players. Pathetico have been replaced in second place by Deportivo Lack Of Talent, who beat CA FC 5-3, a result which will make CA feel a little better after last weeks hammering! Rhys Moult scored 4, including the late goal that clinched the win, but they still sit 6 points behind SK.

In friendly action, The McMuffin’s stopped on to give Stockport Eagles a game, but the second game was a step too far for them as Eagles comfortably won 12-5 with Matt Kealy scoring 4 and Rob Piercy three.

THE NEW SUNDAY LEAGUE STARTS ON 16TH JUNE – SPACES AVAILABLE AS WE LOOK TO EXPAND

MONDAY LEAGUE

PREMIERSHIP

Expected Toulouse picked up a thoroughly expected win this week to move to the brink of claiming the Monday Premiership title. There was no messing around as they raced into a 6-0 half time lead over Cheadle FC, and Joe Roche ended the match with 5 goals to his name and Waz Akram three as they eventually ran out 10-0 winners. Officially only Grand Street Wanderers can now catch Toulouse, as they came within minutes of a clean sheet of their own before conceding two late goals in a 5-2 win over Netsix & Chill, with Jay Bebbington’s three goals ending up being the difference between the sides.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Just the one Championship game took place this week as the season winds down, and it saw Ruby Kazan finish their season with 9 wins out of 10 as they beat Athletico Pathetico 12-6 in a game that had an end of season feel about it. Howie Thomas-Leech got 4 and Jordan Cunningham three as Kazan had what will presumably be their last comfortable game for a little while…

A couple of friendlies took place while we get the season finised off, and a new look Phantom Brazilians picked up an impressive 6-3 win over Nice Buns, with Daniel Clayton netting three times. The newly named duo of Ctrl Alt De Ligt (formerly Unprotected Cesc) and Trent The Fish (formerly Buff Daddy) also played out a fairly laid back fixture, with De Ligt comfortably winning 7-2 with just Fidelis Eberegbe helping himself to more than one goal.

TUESDAY LEAGUE

Things they are a changing at the top of the Tuesday league. We have new leaders this week as Gangsta’s Allardyce were surprisingly comfortable 12-1 winners over For Fuch’s Sake, who drop down to 5th but should still make the cut when the league splits. It was hat tricks all round for Callum Thompson, Adam Needham and David Crozier as Gangsta’s won a game we were quite pleased we didn’t film! The game we did film featured two teams with 100% records since joining as Speshull City took on Snorting Lisbon. This one was also surprisingly one sided as Josh Gittings 7 goals helped Snorting to a 13-5 win that sees them go second.

A much tighter game saw Reece Nuttall claim the MOTM award and a clean sheet as Leavemyarsealona beat Michu At De Gea Ba 3-0, while Barcabona made their Ballers debut and gave a good account of themselves before eventually losing 7-2 to Stroke Titty, who struck three late goals to confirm the win. Jay Willingham got three of their goals, and Chris Edge got two on his Ballers return after a long time away!

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

The big two in the Wednesday league have moved into the prime positions as we continue to catch up games after the early season disruption. New Team stay top but for a little while we were wondering if they were going to slip up for the second week in a row as they trailed FC Rhino Ket 3-1 approaching the interval. They drew themselves level by the break and scored 5 unanswered goals in the second period to clinch an 8-3 win, with all 6 of their players netting, including ‘keeper Jonny Taylor who was given a run out in the second period. Rob Elliott and Matt Brown also grabbed two apiece. Wellspring looked to be cruising to a comfortable victory over Out Of Shape FC as they went 5-0 up in the opening 20 minutes, but the Shapers are nothing if not spirited, and they technically ‘won’ the rest of the game but left with a 9-5 defeat. Lewis Arden and Mike Cocks both scored three for Wellspring, with Adam Grayda scoring two of Out Of Shape’s goals. At the other end of the table, Stockport Eagles and Exeter Gently had just one win between them so far this season. It was Eagles who had that win coming into this weeks game, but Exeter took early control, going 3-0 up in the opening 20 minutes. Kristian Igo’s second goal in the second half, and Adam Robison’s last minute strike meant they held on for a 5-3 win as Eagles put on a spirited second half fight back.

THURSDAY LEAGUE

We could have been writing about our very first Thursday night of action this week, but the EU elections dictated that the club was a polling station and we weren’t allowed in… There’s always next week!

Weekly Round Up – 17th May 2019

LEAGUE NEWS

The big news we’ve been waiting for is here! We will soon be starting a THURSDAY EVENING LEAGUE! Spaces are available with games starting from as soon as next week. For more details or to register a team, get in touch.

We currently have one space for an immediate start in our Tuesday league, and the brand new Sunday league kicks off in June, where we can find spaces for new teams as we look to expand the league for the summer.

SUNDAY LEAGUE

The final game of the Premier League season predictably caused us a few issues this week, but thankfully it’s over for a few months now…

PREMIERSHIP

Only one game survived in the top flight, and it saw Beercalona strengthen their grip on the Premiership title as they saw off Duno. A debuting Callum Thompson grabbed a double in a 5-2 win that sees them go 8 points clear at the top, but that lead could be whittled away when the other teams finally play all of their games…

CHAMPIONSHIP

Just the one game in the Championship too, with Nice Buns B going up against The Veterans as they attempt to keep the pressure on leaders FC AOTS. They did their goal difference a lot of good this week as Danny Wilson scored 5 and Jimmy Williamson 4 in a crushing 13-1 win.

LEAGUE ONE

It’s looking extremely unlikely that The McMuffin Men are going to be caught at the top of League One, as they picked up a fairly routine 10-5 win over second placed Polish Army. Daniel Havern topped scored with 5 goals, with Sam Delgado chipping in with a hat trick of his own as McMuffins make it 8 out of 8. Fat Boys Run Wild look to be heading for the bottom division for the new season, and the fell to another defeat this week, losing 7-3 to Inter Your Sister who leapfrog Team Tom into third place. They shared the goals around this week, with just the returning Simon Steel grabbing a double.

LEAGUE TWO

Step Brothers dropped into the basement for the remainder of the season and picked up their first win in a while to damage Pathetico Madrid‘s promotion hopes. Dom Cioffi grabbed three of their goals in an 8-5 victory. New boys The 69ers couldn’t have had a more comfortable start to life in the Sunday league as they hammered CA FC 19-2. Matt Theaker scored 7 and Charlie Williamson 6, but things will presumably get more difficult for them as time goes on…

We also had Wilmslow Whoppers down for a friendly this week, as they filled in to give KR FC a game. Unfortunately an injury meant that we couldn’t complete the full 50, as Dan Exley’s three helped Whoppers to a 7-3 lead when the game had to come to a premature end.

THE BRAND NEW SUNDAY LEAGUE KICKS OFF ON 16TH JUNE – SPACES AVAILABLE!

MONDAY LEAGUE

PREMIERSHIP

Hangovers from the final day didn’t overly affect the turnout this week, with just Nice Buns letting the side down… There was a potential banana skin for Expected Toulouse in their quest to claim the Premiership title as they took on Kinky Slipper this week. They edged the first half as Waz Akram gave them a 3-2 half time lead, and an early flurry of second half goals helped them pull clear. Akram ended up with 4 and Ryan Dolan scored three as Toulouse won 11-7 to move to the brink of the title, with Wes Harney’s hat trick for Kinky counting for nothing. Netsix & Chill will soon be classed as former champions, but they had one of their good weeks this week as they picked up a 5-2 win over Cheadle FC. Ryan Saunders scored two of their goals as they at least ensured they will remain in the top flight for the new campaign.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Ruby Kazan will be joining that top flight, but they were given a bit of a shock this week as they had to work very hard for a 6-5 win over Delph & Safety, who found some form from somewhere that they haven’t displayed in a number of weeks. Howie Thomas-Leech grabbed three of their goals, with Mitch Massa scoring three in reply for Delph, but Ruby make it 8 wins from 9 games. Buff Daddy FC (name still to be ratified) have completed their Championship fixtures since moving back down a level, and they’ve ended with 5 straight wins as they eventually, comfortably beat Athletico Pathetico 10-2 this week. Shane Bridges scored 5 second half goals as they turned a 2-1 half time lead into an 8 goal victory. It took 23 minutes for the deadlock to be broken in the game between Phantom Brazilians and Unprotected Cesc (soon to be renamed…) this week, but Pete Tickle’s goal was the first of 6 goals that Cesc were able to run in without reply, meaning a first clean sheet for Cesc ‘keeper Anthony Matthews. Tickle ended up with three and Gareth (surname unknown) added two in the final minute to give Cesc the 6-0 win as they look to end the season in style.

THE MONDAY LEAGUE IS CURRENTLY FULL! IT’S A GOOD JOB WE HAVE A BRAND NEW LEAGUE STARTING SOON THAT HAS SPACES FOR TEAMS…!

TUESDAY LEAGUE

With Champions League disruptions a thing of the past we were hoping for a pretty full turnout this Tuesday. It didn’t happen… Club Tropicana have become the first team to complete their fixtures in the first portion of the season, but they didn’t end the way they would have wanted as they suffered a heavy defeat, going down 9-3 to Speshull City. Luke Walker scored three, while Niall Brooks and Dean Simpson added two each as Speshull continue their 100% restart to Ballers life. Another team with a 100% start are Snorting Lisbon, and they took the opportunity to play catch up this week with two games, and they picked up a maximum 6 points from two fairly comfortable wins. Firstly they beat Stroke Titty 8-1 with hat tricks from Rob Brocklehurst and James Taylor, then they eased to an 11-6 victory over Leavemyarsealona. They killed the second game off by going 7-0 up in the opening 17 minutes, and 4 goals each from Kris Fawcett and Taylor allowed them to cruise to victory in the second period, with Scott Stokes and Mark Markwell grabbing two each in reply for Leavemy.

The only other game played this week was a friendly as Wilmslow Whoppers came in to give Gangstas Allardyce a game. A tight first half became a slightly one sided second period as Olly Ford scored 5 as Whoppers edged to a 9-4 win.

SPACES ARE AVAILABLE IN THE TUESDAY LEAGUE AS WE APPROACH THE LEAGUE SPLIT – GET IN TOUCH FOR DETAILS!

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

The big two in the Wednesday faced off for the first time this season as champions Wellspring took on a New Team side who still had a 100% record since joining. This one was a belter, with the highlights available to view over on the Facebook page, and despite leading three times Wellspring couldn’t hang on as New Team claimed a point from a 3-3 draw. Shane Bridges second of the game seemed to have won the game for Wellspring, but Rob Elliott’s last minute leveler meant the points were shared. Another equally tight game took place as Stockport Eagles took on Out Of Shape FC. After going in level at 1-1 at the break, two goals from David in the second half saw the Shapers claim a 3-2 win.

A hastily thrown together random team had a little too much for FC Rhino Ket, claiming a fairly comfortable win.

BRAND NEW THURSDAY LEAGUE – STARTING SOON!

We are desperately excited to announce that we will soon be adding a Thursday evening 6-a-side league to our existing league nights at Reddish North End!

Exact details of game times etc are still to be confirmed, however, we urge any teams who might be interested in signing up to get in touch to register their potential interest as soon as possible, as we expect spaces to go quickly on a first come, first served basis.

As an introduction, we have full access to the pitch NEXT THURSDAY, 23RD MAY, so we have options to either put introductory friendlies on, or to host a mini tournament if enough teams are interested. Again, spaces will be strictly limited on the night so get in touch to pre-book your space. If we get 8 or more teams we will go with a tournament format, kicking off from 7pm, or if you’d strictly rather play a 50 minute friendly we should be able to accomodate that at either 7, 8 or 9pm.

When the league starts, all games will be our standard 50 minutes in length, priced at £5 per player, per game.
